DEXTER Olive Tree Care offers a comprehensive maintenance program for your olive trees. From planting to harvesting, we've got you covered. The following is an outline of our evaluation and ongoing olive tree maintenance program:
Evaluation
Our evaluation includes an onsite survey of your olive trees, considering size, variety, access, pruning needs and general determination of tree health. There is a one-time fee for the evaluation that is refundable with a maintenance contract
Ongoing Maintenence
Using the onsite evaluation, a recommended program will be proposed, and will include the needs based on these categories:
- Olive Pruning: Cost determined by need and size of tree.
- Fertilizing: Usually three to four applications starting in April.
- Olive Fruit Fly Control: After the method of treatment is chosen, costs can be determined. The method of treatment depends on the insect population, which is determined by monitoring traps. Either periodic spraying with GF 120 [averages every ten days, from June 1st through harvest in mid-November], or yeast traps that are hung, monitored and maintained from May through harvest.
Olive Oil Production
- Harvest: Depending on the size and yield of the tree, the cost of hand-picking is determined on a per pound basis. The cost includes harvesting and preparation for shipment to press.
- Olive Oil: Includes shipment to press, pressing, next-day oil pickup, and delivery in bulk to your site. There is a press minimum of 500 pounds of fruit. Transportation of fruit and oil is an additional cost.
- Bottling and Labeling of Oil: Costs are determined by type and size of bottle and label details.
